Subject: wich CPU is better?
OS: Slackware9.0
CPU/Ram: Tbird@900/256DDR
Comment:

Wich one of Athlon 64, Athlon64FX and Opteron is better? I mean better performance, calculations and how much are the Intel and AMD CPU's slower (or better) than SPARC or Alpha.
And yet another question: What would be the hierarchy of cpu's in terms of pure performance?
I want to know wich architecture and OS is the best among all? (securitu, reliability, math calculations, paralel processing)
Thanks in advance.
Alex.

I knew I would get this answer.
Let's say for simulatig electrical circuits in OrCAD.
But what about a ftp, www, name and NIS server?
Things like games, listening music and watching a movie (I think) should work on every one at least acceptable.
