why wont ms 6701 upgrade to 4gb of ram?

Specs: Windows 7
its running pentium 4 prossesor 2.8mg running xp but upgrading to windows 7 64 bit,currantly as 512gb ddr2700 ram with 2 slots won't fit 2x 2gb ddr2700 ram 1 in each slot will this work?

Go to www.crucial.com and run the scanner to see what your mobo supports. You should also run the Microsoft compatibility application to see if you can run Win 7. You don't need the 64 bit version unless you have software that can utilize it.

Your manual (link below) states it only supports a maximum of 2GB RAM. So to answer your question, it will NOT work.

Even if the board allow 4gb of memory u can't use it all. U have 32bit cpu(64bit os doesn't work with 32bit cpu).

Newer P4s (the 600 series) were 64-bit CPUs.

I believe standard desktop DDR1 memory tops at 1GB per module. Unless you have 4 slots, you can't have 4GB.
