Specs: Windows Vista
OK so i have a windows vista laptop and I got it jus last year and it worked fine. But then a couple of days ago it stopped working the volume i mean. Like it just literally doesnt work, except if i plug in headphones then only 1 side of the headphones work. Ive tried everything, such as....
-click on if mute or sumtine like tht was stoping the volume as in an option on properties or somthing
-went on Ontask-manager n tried the settings
-ran vius scans and such...nothing was wrong
-checked if the volume was on low...it was all on high
-checked the status of the colume said it was working properly and good like having a check n green bubble around it.
-checked for anything stoping the volume like headphones or such like i said before.

~SO...what do i do im thinking about reformating my laptop and deleting everything in it. Should I? or is there something else i can do.

-Please help

Do you use the headphones jack a lot?
On laptops plugging in headphones usually disables the speaker sound by means of a mechanical mechanism inside the jack. If that gets bunged up when you remove the headphones plug the mechanism doesn't move back properly and the speakers stay off.
Try sticking the headphones plug in the jack and wiggling it then pulling it out. If that doesn't help you may have to replace the headphones jack on the laptop.

I agree with Tubesandwires. The problem is almost surely with the headphone jack.
