Specs: Windows Vista, 2.1g amd/4 gig mem
I have a satellite p305d-s8995e that has been a great computer up until yesterday. I just got done loading pictures from an sd card, was going thru them all and all of a sudden the whole computer just shutdown. Not like it would if you did the start-shutdown method, just a complete loss of power. So, i tried restarting. When it tried powering back on, it got thru the toshiba startup screen and powered off again. Tried doing the hold "0" key down, got to a screen where it said there was problems and choose this to fix or start windows normally. Have tried both and still will shutdown completely on the toshiba screen. Will do this with the battery in and plugged in, just the battery or just the plug. I have never seen this before. It seems like it's a software issue, but not for sure. Anyone have any ideas before i go for the factory reset? really dont wanna loose all my pics and stuff.

A factory reset will do nothing, it seems like a power problem. If it is still under warranty, send it back to toshiba or where ever you bought it. If you backed up, file loss shouldn't be a problem.

remember... back up at least once a month...

It is out of warranty unfortunatly. Did that first thing. Only had a year warranty on it. And i only paid for the extra year extension. I got it 2 years and 1 month ago. Figures. I have no luck. But what could be causeing it to do that? possibly a loose connection somewhere? It does it at exactly the same spot everytime if i just let it load. But, if i enter the f2 setup, it will stay on for a few more minutes but ends up doing it again. Possibly the cpu overheating? not set right? Loose connector? I have no clue. I guess i will tear into it and see what i can find. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!
