why do i have to clear cmos to get my computer up and running? i put this together a few days ago. it was my first build. at first i didnt get anything on the screen. i reseated the memory sticks, ckecked wiring. the debug codes are vague, especially to a new builder. anyway, i got it running, set the bios settings and loaded windows 7 home premium. everything seemed ok. so the next day i come in from work to turn it on and still getting debug codes. so i clear the cmos, get into the bos and reset the settings. it seems it is not saving the settings. could the battery be bad? the board is an asrock 890fx deluxe 4 with 8gb (4x2gb) kingston ddr3 memory running at 1.5 volts, 1333, which was on the qvl. running a phenom II x 4 970 black edition. also, i ran memtest86 for about 3 hours and it passed. any thoughts on this?

This sounds like a bad CMOS battery.

No it's not the CMOS battery, the memory voltage is the problem.
Some memory modules are not correctly recognised bij the BIOS.
When manually set to 1,52V (see your memory!!) all is well.
