Hi guys and gals. I have not posted on here in bloody ages. But life is hectic in this household, but it will be calmer so hopefully I will be able to join in more like I used to...
Anyhow... I have this dilemma. And I never thought it would come to this, being a die hard Athlon man...
I have picked up a Pentium 4 2.4ghz 533bus computer for $25 in a thrift store.
I was about to list it for sale, when I thought mmmmm.... is this better than my Athlon 2500 Barton? And I checked benchmarks for stuff... first results say it is way better... so... is it better

I have a 2.4ghz Intel with 1.25 gig of ram at the office and a 2500 Barton 1.8 ghz with 1 gig at home. The Intel machine hasn't showed me anything that would make me want to run out and replace my AMD machine.

Check out Tom's Hardware Guide CPU Charts...

They're pretty close; not worth swapping.
For example, in the 3DMark-05 CPU test, the relative difference between Athlon XP 2500+ and Pentium 4 2.40 GHz is 4.79 %, and the absolute difference between Athlon XP 2500+ and Pentium 4 2.40 GHz is 135.

Keep both. $25 is a good price for a backup.
