Hello,

i was wonderig which one of these PSUs are better? The system will be used for some gaming, video and music.

I was curious as to why the 470watt is more expenpensive than the 500w, i know wattage is not important its more the amperage, but i cannot see why.

Also the Stealth seems to have a 120mm fan so its obviously better for cooling, it also has more connectors, so why cheeper?

any reviews out there you can recommend i read to compare these two?

The links you provided are pretty much useless as they don't provide all the specs. One big difference that I see is the 500W unit is a split +12v rail design, both @ 18A. The 470W unit has a single +12v rail @ 26A. And although I personally prefer the 120mm fan design, it's supposedly not as good as the rear 80mm fan design.

Here's the specs for the 500W Stealth:

Here's the specs for the 470W Silencer:

And here's some important "myths" about PSUs that will help clarify the issues with a 120mm fan vs 80mm fan & single vs multi +12v rail:

The Silencer is *probably* the better choice.

Thanks a lot for those links Jam, the article at the bottom is brilliant, see i recently myself went from a rear 80mm fan to a top 120, i bought a TermalTake ToughPower 750watt (cant find my post) but it has a 120 fan and its good, but now from reading this i can see its not good enough as i have 4 +12volt rails rather than a single one, although i havent seen any problem with it yet when playing games.

Thanks,
