i am trying to decide which one to get, and after reading reviews and various benchmarks, i've come to a draw!
the D201GLY2 seems nice, but the D945GCLF is newer. i'm just not sure.
i can't decide which one is better. power usage isn't that big a deal, but i want the one that will provide more future-proof-ness (if that's a word) and overall a speedier system. maybe the atom because it has hyperthreading?

any input is appreciated.
oh, and graphics is not an issue, i got a vision tek x1300 for PCI (not PCI-E) for a cool $20, so graphics is not an issue. it all comes down to cpu.
No try! Do. Or do not. There is no try.

You are kidding yourself if you think either of those boards provide any kind of Future-proofness.
Only one RAM slot,( How does Hyperthreading work with only 1 stick of ram?) No AGP or PCI-E, only one PCI slot and only one IDE controller. One of them has a 1gb ram limit. No mention of RAID capability on either board.Sorry but the future is already here and those boards have been left behind. They allow for exactly NO future expansion.
If you want future expansion possibilities then look for a board with PCI-e and/or AGP as well as three or more PCI slots and I also like to have two IDE controllers. While not essential these days, I also prefer to keep a Floppy Drive and neither of those boards has a floppy controller.
The only reason I can think of that you would consider these boards is if you are restricted for room and are building a micro box. If that is the case then go with the one that can take 2gb ram. At least you would then have the option to run vista in future.
Goin' Fishin' (Some day)

Despite its low clock speed and absence of hyperthreading, the Core 2-based Celeron 220 would probably be a bit faster than the Atom 230. However, the SiS chipset on that board would destroy any advantage that the Celly might have over the Atom. The i945 is a much stronger chipset.
Go for the i945/Atom board.
This ain't ur momma's P3 system:
PIII-S @ 1.66GHz
2GB PC2700
AGP HD3650
Blu-Ray drive
Homebuilt 1920x1200 projector, Pixelworks HDMI controller
JBL receiver & speakers

Why did you narrow it down to such crappy choices? What is it that you're trying to build? While I agree with jackbomb that the i945/Atom board is the better of the two, Richard makes extremely valid points.

The boards have integrated graphics. The X1300 PCI is certainly nothing to brag about. These systems will never be decent gamers if that's your thought.

i just wanted something better than integrated graphics, that's all. of course an x1300 on pci is nothing to brag about, but all i want is a quiet, small machine to surf the net and play SNES games. that's all.
i'm gonna go with the atom machine. gigabyte has a model of the board one can over clock the atom to 1.8ghz, which i think is pretty neat. maybe i can figure out how to get a bigger heatsink on the board and over clock it more!
No try! Do. Or do not. There is no try.

Look into the new via nano cpu`s, they are fanless and have a much better floating point unit than there prior cpu`s. Much cheaper too.Via is closing the gap.

screw it.
i got an asrock nforce3 board for super cheap, and i'm putting my turion in it.
