Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD (ST31000524AS)

WD Caviar Blue 500GB HDD (WD5000AAKX)

Seagate is the winner but the difference is very small.
The Seagate drive has bigger cache.

Also the difference between BLUE and BLACK caviar isn't huge.

No warranty from Seagate hard drive.

You know the real meaning of peace only if you have been through the war.

I have seen many more Seagate drives fail than Western Digital.
My preference for OS drives is the Western Digital Black series.
Before Seagate bought Maxtor they were also very good.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I agree with Fingers. The 1TB Seagate drive in my main computer died just a couple of weeks ago, and I had a 500GB Seagate fail recently as well. My WD drives just keep going.
