If your going to study computer science at uni you would be better with Windows XP - preferable XP Pro. Most of the network/programming software you will "acquire" at uni will run best on XP. The AMD system has twice the RAM, bigger HDD, bigger screen & more dedicated video memory. The CPU isn't as good, but I think the items I just listed more than offset that.
