They both cost the same. I wanted to buy one of them for university purpose. I'm going to study Computer Science.

If your going to study computer science at uni you would be better with Windows XP - preferable XP Pro. Most of the network/programming software you will "acquire" at uni will run best on XP. Also it will integrate better into the uni's network if you are in the libray or halls
If your in the uk, i recommend one of these :-

Samsung P500
15.4" Screen
Weight 2.7kg
Intel Core 2 Duo 8100 @ 2.1Ghz
2Gb RAM (667Mhz)
250Gb Hard Disc
ATI Radeon X1250
Ethernet / Wireless / Bluetooth
DVD-rewriter

£570 in VAT - not too bad

I bought the P200 for the gf (cos its even lighter) and it was a Vista Business downgrade machine - which means you get BOTH the XP Pro and Vista Business recovery cds. This would let you load Vista onto the laptop if your course needed it to in the future. Just check this is the case with the P500 i have recommended you.

D

Found the P200 here - its more expensive though.

Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
2x1Gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800Mhz
Sapphire x1950Pro
160Gb Seagate Baracuda
500W FSP Bluestorm PSU

The AMD system has twice the RAM, bigger HDD, bigger screen & more dedicated video memory. The CPU isn't as good, but I think the items I just listed more than offset that. Unless you need a smaller & presumably more lightweight unit, it seems like a no brainer.
