XFX GF 6600GT 128MB was my choice, 500mhz core (52k aquamark result)
in either 1024x768 or 800x 600 it works a treat, and in 3dmark is almost equvalent to
a 6800 @ same res.

both agp or pcie versions supported , dual
div put with d sub adapters & a nice box.

£150 uk
noidea about the ati's
see tomshardware.com for vga comparison

XFX GF 6600GT 128MB

Would you get the AGP or the PCI-Express card? Which is faster? AND What Mobo is the ideal partner for this card?

Another vote for the 6600GT.

That depends on your motherboard. You're gonna have PCI-E or AGP, not both. PCI-E is incidentally faster, but if your motherboard has AGP, you don't have a choice.

I also read that the Sapphire Hybrid X700 Pro Toxic PCI-Express Card is faster than the XFX GF X6600 PCI-E card is this really true?

That mobo is PCI Express.

Dude, if you're gonna get an SLI mobo, get a card you can SLI with later. Otherwise, why are you spending more money on a mobo that you're not gonna take advantage of.

Translation - Buy a 6600GT. ;-)

You would be right about those two video cards, but a 6600GT would own them both.

Since when did a card that sells for about $200 (US) become a ""good budget card"? lol

Asus A7N8X-X

512MB PC3200
Asus Ti4800SE 128MB
