Which is Dead? CPU or MOBO?? if any

Here's the deal: after unplugging all peripherals from my system (HD, CD, Floppy, Modem, NIC, Sound) and powering up with JUST the AGP vid card installed, I see NO video. I swapped vid cards w/ a PCI and still no luck. Even having the HD connected has no sounds of booting, so therefore I suppose the CPU or Mobo is shot. Is there a way to tell WHICH one it is without swapping CPU's and Mobo's w/ eeach other? Also, would a PII work in the CPU slot where the PIII was? It's the Slot 1 type or whatever. NOT the kind with pins, it's the flat "card type" processor. Any help? THANKS!! Tim

it might be the power supply. I can not say if the p2 would work or not.

the power supply does provide power to the drives, and all the fans, so i would assume that is ok.
