which HD is best?

which is best way? i want a new HD to store all my data i have 80G maxtor at the moment. should i buy another external HD to store things or should i buy a larger HD & partition part of it as a store. does anyone do this & which is the safer? or should i carry on backing everything onto disc opinions would be great thanx.

I've been using external USB 2.0 HDDs for a while and no longer put large HDDs in my computers.
But I still use optical media to store really important stuff.

thanx for the info Badboy can i ask you when using an external HD do i need to install a firewall & anti virus on that drive aswell as on my internal HD sorry if that sounds dumb but i'm just being safe

No, your existing firewall and AVS should be enough. If you are using XP, I don't think you can install a firewall or AVS on an external HDD.
