Which would be a better choice of video card? a geforce 4 Ti4200 or Radeon 9600 Pro (both 128mb)? They're both around the same prices which is about as much as i want to spend. I want a card for gaming. If not either of there, what would be better for the same price?
Thanks,
Nick

are you wanting to buy new? cuz i remeber seeing the GF4 TI4200 for $55-60 or so while the Radeon was in the $150 range on ebay or retail
If you plan on using AA and AF get the Radeon hands down. GF4 performance loss is a lot with these filters
ATI has awsome drivers now i'm using Catalyst 4.3 or so..
Speed, these are at about the same, almost negligable, unless you're a benchmark freak than waste away your money, to get those extra frames at unreal resolutions and refresh rates.
IMO its all the same..I mean really any frames per second above 80 in any game is overkill - above this point its skill that matters.
DO buy only name branded stuff like ATI, Verto (PNY) Asus etc
Stay away from like powercolor and other generic brands..as these may use cheaper parts, have 64bit memory bandwidth instead of spec 128, etc to bring the price down..
BOTH are great cards and you can't go wrong unless you're playing DX9 games

Hey check out www.builditcheap.com they have some info on video cards I think, I know they do on their forums unless they re did them.

Hey, I would go for the Radeon 9600 Pro, I have a little older radeon, still 128 meg card, and it works great for games, my video editing, and with the piggy back tv tunner card I use.

how about radeon 9600XT? is this much better than pro? also, do they all the 9600XT's come with the Half-Life 2 voucher or do some companies not give them away? If not, which ones do?
Nick

At pricewatch, the Ti4200/128 goes for $99...the 9600 Pro/128 goes for $101. If you look at these test comparisons, the T14200 is slightly better...but I believe the 9600 supports DX9...the Ti4200 does not. The FX 5600 sells for $93 & beats em both!

I've decided to go with this: http://www.savastore.com/products/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=Savastore&product%5Fid=10272021&pid=1
looks pretty good to me. comes with half-life 2 as well :DNick
