Comment: Hello, I planning on buying a new graphics card, which chipset is the best and most widely supported for games nowadays. And any recommendations for a mid range budget? Many Thanks Glyn

Reply: (edit)The two main chip manufacturers are Nvidia which at present make the Geforce 4 that is widely used and then there is ATi, with there Radeon. There are pros and cons to both Cards and its down really to personal preference. I have used both cards and I personally prefer ATi cards, I like them because of there utilities which make tweaking your card to suit your needs.

Reply: (edit)An Geforce or Radeon at no less than 64MB DDR Dedicated memory should be fine for anything.

Reply: (edit)If you are looking for a budget card, I suggest the ATI Radeon 8500LE. I have the 64MEG DDR RAM card, and its super. Clockspeed is 250, and with POwerstrip you can O/Clock to 275. My kids haven't found a game yet that doesn't run great, and they run everything with all options turned to highest and highest resolution the game supports. Retails around $75 at Newegg. Also check the prices on the 128MEG version.
