Which computer is better?

Specs: Windows 7
Hi, I have two old computers, I would like to know which one to use/keep and which to...sell(?).

Dell Dimension 4550
The first is, Intel Pentium 4 cpu 2.53 Ghz, 640 Ram, Nvidia GeForce 3 Ti200

Compaq Presario s3200NX
The second is, AMD Athlon xp (2400+) 2.00 Ghz, 992 Ram, s3 Graphics ProSavage DDR

The second one currently seems to work SO slow. I have done multiple anti-virus progs on it plus cleaning. That computer is used for ONLY web browsing, no downloading, no online videos etc. The first one was also slow, I reinstalled win xp on it though and it seems ok now.

Any advice/knowledge would be appreicated, thankx.

I personally have had better experience with Dells rather than Compaqs. I have a Dell Dimension 8300, it stood up with an 8-Hour a day Remote Desktop Connection for 5 years, then I used it lightly for another 3 years, and it still is holding strong.

By the specs you provided, the Dell most likely will have greater performance (due to the external Video Card), so I would recommend the Dell.

What to do now?

I would keep the Dell. But if you do keep it and want more performance, upgrade the RAM to 1GB. Generally, Intel processors are better quality (I used to have an old P2 system that was on 24/7). You have a decent amount of RAM on your Presario, so that should sell easily.

There's very little resale value on either one of them. The CPUs are closely matched & both systems max out at 1GB RAM. You didn't mention hard drives. I'm guessing the Dell has onboard video too? If it does, you could put the Ti200 in the Compaq. Wipe the HDD & do a clean install of XP & keep it as lean as possible.

For me the best computer are with Mac. Its very fast and savvy. I like its looks and design as well. And most computer diagnostics
tools are compatible and run really fast with it. I have notice that computer software is best to installed in fast computers like Mac. That is why I really like it, this is the best PC for me.
