If you never ever see anything at all on the screen then most likely you have a hardware failure. First step is to try an external monitor on it to see if it is a screen fault.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

If you are getting boot manager is missing then your hard drive maybe dead or you may just need to do a Start Up Repair.
You can do a Start Up Repair from a Windows Install Disk, Recovery Disk Set, or Windows 7 Repair Disk (assuming you have Windows 7 as you have listed above). The recovery disk set and the repair disk you should have made wen he machine was new. You can still make a Windows 7 Repair Disk on any working Windows 7 machine and as long as both are either 32bit or both 64bit you can use it. In addition to start up repair, you have access to System Restore which also may help you if Start Up Repair does not. You may have to access BIOS set up to set the boot order to the DVD drive first (or USB for external USB DVD drive) and this will prove that you do not have a hardware problem other than hard drive problem if you can access the BIOS set up. If the repair disk does not see your Windows installation or hard drive, make a bootable CD from Seatools from Seagate (DOS version) and boot to that and test your hard drive.
If your hard drive tests good but you cannot repair Windows, report this back, do NOT attempt to reinstall Windows or do a Factory Restore unless you have a proven good back up of your personal files or you will loose them. A system made back up as well as a copy/paste copy to different media of all of your personal files (Documents, Music, Photos, Video, etc.) is recommended.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hi Shub, for such queries it is best to provide make AND full model number.

Expanding on Derek's reply, if the laptop appears to be starting correctly (watch the leds) but there is NO SCREEN DISPLAY at all, try ALMOST closing the screen slowly then slowly opening it. With luck the display may show.

Often no display at all is caused by a fault in the screen cable, due to having been bent many times.

Did the fault suddenly appear or was it after something was done immediately before to the laptop?

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
