hi. when I press the d key on my laptop I get edc3. this happens with other keys too eg j gives m,j and v,gftv.it always seems to be adjacent or surrounding keys. im guessing my keyboard needs cleaning but having removed a couple of keys the problem seems to be under the lower cover. any ideas how to remove this to allow cleaning and a safe way of doing it please ?

Try an external keyboard to make sure it isn't a MB problem. Then you may have to get a new main keyboard. This may be liquid damage.
I tend to agree with paul in that it might be liquid damage. Follow his instructions and then consider laptop keyboards are often available for less than 30 bucks if you feel you need to replace it. Skip

I got an external keyboard and alls fine, I think ill just stick with this for now and look into how hard it is to change my main keybord. thx for taking the time to answer :-*
The other thing you should do is update all the hardware drivers, particularly the chipset.
