I thought I would start up something fun.
I went out today, and bought a Sidewinder Precision Pro today, for $2!
My local thrift store is great!
Downloading the drivers now.
Other bargains I have got include a $350 webcam/video conferencing card for $15 and a used hard drive I bought for next to nothing which failed, and I sent it back to the manufacturere (stil in warranty) and a got a free new one!
Come on, interested to know who else has done well on the bargains!

Found a compaq presario in the garbage yesterday. Salvaged a 6gb hd. 52x cdrom. modem and unknown mobo and amd processor. HD and cd tested and working. Guy left files on the hd too. case was trashed but it was all FREE. :-)

someone got a free motherboard from me in there mail box, i bought it on ebay for about $20.00 and had it sent prioity mail with a conformation scan + insurance, but the postal mail lady put it the wrong mail box or her bag maybe, and i can't prove it was done that way by her without a video tape showing it that she didnt put it in my mail box, my word against hers and we know who wins in that senerio, someone got a real good motherboard for nothing..

Though this is only some what of a bargan,
I was able to replace my Asus Black Pearl (only 1000 made) off of ebay for $130.00

Got 10 computers for $20 at a garage sale one was a p3 333Mhz 64mb sdram adaptec scsi pci card and sony 4gig tape drive 32 mb video card 3com parallel tasking network card sound card and modem they just took out the hard drive. Got lucky bought a 40gig western digital hard drive $40 at best buy and a cd burner for $29 256mb memory for $12 got win 98 on it and makes a great backup computer!

Cool. Man that $20 garage sale thing.
I wish I was there!
And as for finding stuff in the garbage!
Amazing what companies throw in the trash, isn't it!

Good bargin #1:Can anyone say Goodwill?Amd k-5 166mhz,32mb ram,1.5gig HD,8x cd,56k modem, sound blaster card,17' monitor (I think it has finaly died but I got over a year out of that monitor),key board and brand new in the box mouse with win 95 installed. Not exactly top of the line but for 20$ what do you want.
Good bargin #2:Went to a local bargin store, owner seid he had too cases he would sale for 10$ a peice. When i looked at them one was a complete pc,40 gig western didgital,128mb ram,750 duron, and a dvd drive. The outher had mobo, processer, ram, and hard drive.Didnt know if any of it worked but It was worth the risk.Turned out every thing worked great.

Forgot 2 outher bargins: win 95b for 5$ at a thrift store. It was an oem disk but 95b has usb support ad is perfect for older pc's that cant quite run well with 98.
Also Windows ME disk for 3$ at a local flea market. It was scratched and I liked to never find a cd key that would work but it did install and im currenty using it now.

The stuff flows like the Mighty Mississippi. It is part of our popular culture, buy it today tomorrow it is junk. As Kurt Vonnigit refers to it as "Kipple"

Got two boxes of small hard drives, 1 gig & below for 10.00. Have only tested 5 & they worked. One had a bad sector on it, which is no big deal, but I've had no problem with it in my older 486. Small box of isa sound card. I think there where 10 in the box, 2 for a dollar. Have tested 3 of these & they worked. 8 computers for 20.00. 5 worked, the others didn't. Gutted the none working ones & threw them away. 1 vga monitor 10.00. Got this all from a computer company going out of business sale.
