The Chinese is interested in buying more of our technology. First it was IBM PC Division and now it may be Seagate Technology. Is this good considering all the news we hear and read about unsafe products and food ingredients.

There lies the problem. China can buy up these companies at huge prices because they can recuperate their investment very quickly compared to a Western company because they don't have the same overheads to consider - like wages and social responsibilities.

OMG - Napoleon predicted that over 200 years ago. Now he must be rolling over in his grave yelling "Wake up America you idiots - Smell the coffee before its too late."

We went through this same sort of thing with Japan after WW2. Both the USA and Japan came through that ok and I suspect we will survive this too. :-)

Boy, is that an understatement!

I have been there (20 years ago) and very few news shows reveal the actual state of China. From starving 100,000 babies because they are girls to pollution to using political criminals to name a few.

As you point out, there is a world wide demand for their goods that exceeds the social responsibility of the end user.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

Made in USA started dieing when the American worker got greedy!

Everyone whines about "Corporate Greed", the real problem is "Labor Greed" pushing prices through the roof.

High School dropouts with Union jobs making $75,000 a year at Chrysler New Process Gear in Syracuse NY! Result, high parts prices!

Uneducated workers making $100,000 in Union protected manufacturing jobs like Ford and GM with guaranteed benefits for life even if they lose their jobs!

Currently 50% of the cost of a each car is used to pay health insurance.

Fire the highly paid CEO's and your car costs $2 less, eliminate the ripoffs in the labor contracts and the prices drop 50%.

At one time I was Union, until I realized what the unions really do for a living.
