Regarding: the square orange ad with Data Recovery Software at the top and www.runtime.org at the bottom of it .

Is anybody else experiencing this?
For the fourth day as of today I've been experiencing this problem.
This happens on both my computers, one of which has 98SE and IE 5.5, the other having XP Pro and updated IE 6.x.
Both have had a recent scan with AVG free and no malware was found.

Whenever I go to a forum page on this site, and this site only, whenever the square orange ad with www.runtime.org at the bottom of it is on the page, multiple lines listing a url something is loading from appear on the left side of the taskbar.
They appear to correspond directly to the stuff in the middle of the ad that changes every few seconds. Sometimes multiple lines load something and then that activity stops. Sometimes the lines load over and over again and they never stop - I have to click on Stop at the top of the IE page to stop them.
They consume anywhere from a few percent to, a few times, 100% of the cpu capacity, unless I click on Stop. They often interfere with going forward or back to other posts unless stopped. The lines load something every time I change pages if the ad is there. It's as if they are not being cached to my hard drive like they should be.

That ad has been on this site for a while now and I was having no problems with it being on a page previous to 4 days ago.

I don't have this problems and do see the noted advertisement.

"multiple lines listing a url something is loading from appear on the left side of the taskbar."

Are you actually referring to the 'taskbar' or do you mean the IE Status bar.

If I don't Stop the lines from loading, if the lines do not stop loading sometimes a line appears for longer than the others -
(in Win 98SE)
"javascript: A4E Banner Activity - (lists a URL only seen for that message, but it hasn't appeared long enough for me to copy it down yet.)

- if I let it continue to load line after line, sometimes I get a window or multiple windows pop up, at which times the lines do not load:
"Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site (the url of the computing net page I am on)

- if I let it continue to load line after line, sometimes IE freezes, but I am able to close IE with Alt-Ctl-Del and task manager, sooner or later.

Directly to the left of the taskbar, starting at far right, whatever that's called.

I was wrong - it's doing it again, but not every time, and not as bad - it usually stops by itself.

javascript:A4EBannerActivity("http://red/as-us.falkag.net/red?cmd=url&flg=0&&rdm=76785422&dlv=175,16644,16995 is apparently the long blue Dell ad at the top of some pages.

Hello,

It can't be the runtime ad causing that. The runtime ad has been there unchanged for years. It could be this new ad you mention. Did you say it is dell?

"The runtime ad has been there unchanged for years."

As I said in the original post
"That ad has been on this site for a while now and I was having no problems with it being on a page previous to 4 days ago."

"It could be this new ad you mention. Did you say it is dell?"

Yes. It may be at least three of them actually.

One that displays
javascript:A4EBannerActivity("http://red/as-us.falkag.net/red?cmd=url&flg=0&&rdm=76785422&dlv=175,16644,16995
is apparently a long blue Dell ad at the top of some pages. I haven't seen that one yet today so I don't know what the wording is.

Two more - one at the top that goes across the whole top - another down the right side.
Both of them - "Purely You
Do more with your small business at Dell.ca
Inspiron 1501" etc.

The string displayed appears to be identical to the first one, except the one on the side has 1226284 after rdm=, the one on the top has 66355392 after rdm=

The same string is also displayed when you simply hold the cursor over the blank parts of the Dell ads.

Just now when the latter two were on the same page the lines displayed to the left at the bottom of the screen included many strings that started the same, many lines loaded seemingly over and over again, and when they stopped loading on their own the IE 5.5 page was frozen. I was able to close IE with Alt-Ctl-Del and task manager, sooner or later.

Or visa versa?

"The same string is also displayed when you simply hold the cursor over the blank parts of the Dell ads."

Or over the ad anywhere?

Another one, at the top, same wording, 78001223 after rdm=

Maybe the same ad, the number changes every time?

The same string is also displayed when you simply hold the cursor over the ad anywhere.

I haven't had any of the mentioned problems since the morning of the 12th - Thanks Justin!
I haven't seen those Dell ads since.
Maybe I was getting them because I'm in Canada (ads were for Dell.ca) and most others who post here are in the US or the UK?

I see what looks like the same Dell.ca ad is back on this site today, on some pages on the right side, yet I'm having no problems like I had before.
Looks like someone fixed whatever was causing my problem.
