OEM is in a different category OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacture (i think) but all that means is its not retail it doesnt come with the fancy box with the pictures and the extra things that would come with a graphics card that you buy at ciruit city or best buy...they just give you the card and maybe a cable and the driver basiccally they give you what you need some times only the card in a box with a cd...but the thing is OEM is lottsss cheaper...now the brand names with video cards are not really different..the only differece you might see is the fan...and wanna make sure you get a gooooooddd fan for your card..

hope i could help...

p.s. get nVidia!!

Sapphire makes a fanless version that is silent

I believe sapphire also makes the built-by-ati cards for ati, as well as sells them under their own name.

Other than that the price differenes are usually due to features, ports, and games in the box with it. All that being equal, further price differences are due to overlockability. Vid card overclockability varies a lot based on who you get it from - a cheap card from brand x tends to not oc like a more expensive card from a good brand.

Here is a good thread on video card buying

jd the fanless card above has the $30 zalman heatpipe built onto it to replace the tiny sink and fan that normally come on the card. Its more than adequate and even outweighs the stock amd cpu heatsink.

Between the heatsink and gpu of any vid card with a fan will be thermal compound. Replacing it was as3 is fine to do if you feel like tinkering. I doubt it makes a difference though.
