Man, what gives? my system appears to be a (mini) beast but i run games with very little fps.
I can run unreal tourney 2k4 and doom3 but the fps are just terrible. In unreal tourney i get 50-60 fps on the torlan map playing onslaught on medium texture for everything and resolution at 840x. On doom3 it tells me to play it with medium detail on 640x resoultion. The only game i can play with full high quality settings including anti aliasing is quake 3 arena, but on certain maps i get 90 fps also. Now that you've read my frames time to be astonished(maybe) at my under performing system!

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (2200 MHz, NEWCASTLE s939)
MSI k8t Neo2-F
512 Mb (one stick pc3200)
BFG Geforce 6800 OC 128mb

i've downloaded MSI Live update to update

the motherboard drivers (Sound and Via and realtrek)

And i also have DirectX 9.0c (says EVEREST HOME VERSION, didnt know i had it)

and i also have windows xp updated ....

and i have downloaded the NVIDIA forceware

driver for my video card Version 71.89

and i have 6 fans in my computer 2 blowing

in 2 blowing out a gpu fan and heatsink..

and i have a 450 watt powersupply.....

so WHAT'S THE DEAL?

Hi what performance results do you get running a benchmark eg Aquamark or 3dmark 03
(not3dmark05)

50-60 fps in ut04 is more than sufficient for
gameplay, , is vsync on or off?
though lower screen res is not, as youve found.
my 6600gt runs at 1027 at 50fps full detail
so yes theres a driver issue i think.

Try older version of nvidia driver, fully unistall the latest one 1st.
I take it oc is the brand? if overclocked can you run it standard?
Also have you put the ram stick in the right slot green channel A? DIMM 2 NOT DIMM1.
apparently this is important on the k8t.

btw version of directx can be found by typing
dxdiag , in the start/run box.

Ah. Thanks for your nice post. Well vsync was enabled then i turned it off and tried unreal 2k4 again and it was a tiny bit better in fps but doom3 was the same.. i havent tried 3dmark or aquamark yet..

I have a BFG 6800 OC 128mb (it comes from the manufacturer overclocked a bit) I recently installed a file that will let me fix clocking speeds to whatever i want.. so i will try the normal 6800 speeds..

Dxdiag only has 'Version 9 or higher' i cannot find exactly where it says 9.0c is the version..

and my 1 stick of 512mb ram pc3200 is in the slot furthest right so i think thats ok.

As mentioned, try an older video driver.

Kill your antivirus (and everything else) while benchmarking.

Update your chipset drivers.

How's your power supply? Make sure it exceeds minimum requirements.

Make sure the test settings are default. If you have yours set higher you will show a low score compared to other similar machines.

Hi
your aqua score looks ok 55k, mine runs at
52k ish, AMD3200 claw @2000 1gig pc3200, 6600gt so they are quiet close match.

the dx diag should definately say directx version 9.0c 409.000.0904 or somthing equivalent on system tab.

try reinstall dx9 and as above suggests.
link for your ram

Ok. I tried the Nvidia Omega Drivers 1.6693 (Forceware 66.93)

from omegadrivers.net

fps seems the same. My psu seems fine, and nothing is overheating my cpu temp is 44C and my graphics card temp is 52C.

Any suggestions would be a lifesaver
