Subject: What's it worth? (dumb question)OS: noneCPU/Ram: 3200 |
Comment: Hello-- My friend is "thinking about" buying my extra stuff. He's on a 1ghz P3 now. Boxed (still) 80GB Deskstar 7200rpm Asus K8n AMD64 3200+ w/ stock heatsink & fan ATx case (plain jane) Antex dual fan 330W PSU Verto 5700VE Ultra 256mb Just needs RAM & CDRW I ran it very stable for almost 9 months. After much debate, I'm gonna get a 939 San D. Which brings me to question #2-- Which San D? 3700+ overclocks well? Thanks for your replies.

Reply: (edit)"friend" = very cheap especially if it develops a problem. The cheaper the price a friend pays the less they expect from the friend that sold it to them. 1GB Ram = $200 CDRW = $60 For $30 more they can get a new Dell with a 15" Flat panel monitor as a turn key machine. To answer the question considering the above info I would say $0 - $50 to a friend is a good price. Selling on Ebay as parts should get more. Bryan

Reply: (edit)That mobo is 50$ by itself. The HDD is brand new in sealed box. 50$ The vid card is 100$ at Frys. It's 1 month old. That Proc sells for over 100$ on ebay. That case and PSU were close to $100. 1 GB RAM is about 60-110$ MAX. CDRW is about 20-25$ Where do you shop? LOL. That Dell is an absolute P.O.S. Since it is a friend, I will steer him far clear from Dell-- do you seriously recomend: 533 bus p4 256 ram (usually 2 sticks x 128)? on board graphics? non ATX psu/mobo? 5400rpm drives? Butload of Dell supplied software? 110w generic no fan psu? One case fan vented to vover the cpu as well? etc. etc. etc. Could an adult answer the question please?
I'm thinking more like 200-250$?
add 130$ for 1GB ram and cdrw, and it's a smoking AMD64 system for about $400.00 Enjoy that Dell.
