Hi all,
I need a laptop but am unsure what the best one is for the money.

Does anyone know o a good website that compares various brands/models?

OR

Does anyone have a make/model they're willing to suggest?

I'd like a DVD, CD-RW, 15" min screen, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Deanna

Deanna; You are going to start a fight with that question :). I personally pick a PC based upon what I want it to do. As for my personal Servers I pick Microns. As for Laptops I am using nothing but Dell's. I have one Dell Laptop (Latitude 610) that I use for Windoze 2K has every thing you mentioned and more. Cost was $2,400.00. My other Dell laptop (Latitude 840) I use for linux. Faster processor and more HD space than 610, but thats what I needed for Linux, cost was around $3,300.00. Just do a lot of searching and pricing. I am sure you will get a lot of suggestions with your post. Good luck in your computer buying travels!

Ok, here's my thought on that.

Go to http://www.ecs.com.tw

There you will find something called, the ibuddie.

It looks like a laptop, but it is called a desknote. It basically uses normal processors instead of special laptop ones, and can be upgraded as such. for a pentium 4 2 gig, you will pay no more than $1,600 I believe. I am gonna get one, as soon as the money is there. They are know as desknotes, as they are hybrid desktop/notebooks. They have 15 inch TFT XGA screens, cdwriter/dvd, and everything else. ONLY drawback is there is no built in battery. You have a battery pack with the thing, as it was designed for people who need to take a computer with them, but don't rely on using it much whilst on a train or plane. But, that said, as there is a power pack, there really is nop problem! I AM GETTING ONE FOR SURE!!!! So cool. So cool.
