Subject: what vid card to get?OS: Windows XP ProfessionalCPU/Ram: AMD Athlon 2500+XP/512mb |
Comment: hi justwanted to get some opinions on what is a good video card to get for under about the $80 mark AUS. im guessing thats about $50 US money. I think i could get a Gigabyte 128mb Geforce 4 MX 4000 for $75. is that cheap and is that a good video card. it would mainly be for playing the latest games. basically im a little worried that my 32mb intergrated video card wont be able to take the sims 2, as the processor is only 1.3GHZ and i have 224mb ram (32mb taken for the vid card) any opinions would be great thanx robbo

Reply: (edit)you wanna get a card for 50$ and play the latest games, you gotta be kiding. no card around 50$ will play latest games, for around 80 or 90 you can get geforce 4 ti 4200 and its a pretty good card but will not be too good for playing newest games.

Reply: (edit)If you are really serious about latest games, your budget is very frugal regarding video cards. At the same time spending $400 on a card for a recreational game is IMO a bit outlandish. If your are willing to take the chance, check out Newegg's refurb section for the latest video card deals. ____________________________ The greatest risk is not taking one

Reply: (edit)I agree with both of these guys. You can't play video games with a cheap graphic card. Invest for an ATI. groups.yahoo.com/group/simplycomputers2

Reply: (edit)a Geforce 4 mx4000 will most likely run sims 2, but i would go with a TI4200, it can run doom 3 on high 1024x768 30-40fps and i have seen it as low as 60$ american BUtta My Fries

Reply: (edit)In most of the comparisons I've seen, the MX4000 is at the bottom of the pile http://www.digital-daily.com/video/vga-roundup/ Asus A7N8X-X 1800+ @8x210mhz 512mb PC3200 Ti4200/8X 128mb WDC 60GB
