I have recently realized that Im going to need a new computer pretty soon. I just don't want to buy a computer and have the new/ better/faster/cheaper component that everyone but me knew about come out a week later. Is there anything like that coming out soon or a significant price drop? I can wait a couple months if neccesary. Im looking for middle of the road components about $1500 total , for example im liking the i7 940 and maybe a radeon 4850 right now.

Seems like the next "cutting edge", is always just around the corner. "Im looking for middle of the road components", if your not looking for the next cutting edge, why wait for it. Just look for good deals on what you want now.
Not sure if it is better to wait until after the holidays, as far as price goes, maybe others can comment on that.

The only + for midrange pc's "around the corner" would be windows 7 and best guess's for that are mid 09 to early 2010. Maybe a blu-ray internal drive would be cool.

on the road again!!

In the 80's this wouldn't even be a question. We didn't expect anything new for many years to come. But since the tech breakthoughs of the 90's+ you can't tell what is coming next. I wouldn't drive myself crazy with too much concern for it. Advancements have slowed down since the 90's but no one can say for sure (except maybe intel execs) :)

Sometimes I even wonder akout them lol! Blu-ray drive might be cool though. Saw 1 onsale at fryes for $89. Cheap base for a media center pc. Combine that with mid lvl gpu with hd support. Think that's the way I'm going with next rig. Media center with decent gaming core.

on the road again!!
