Comment:

I am being given at Dell Dimension 4100. The HD went bad and I will have to put a new one in it. I am being given the Restore CD but I am unsure if it is XP or something else. Computer was most recently running XP Pro. The RAM was pulled for another computer (not by me - I don't have it yet). I am told it was PC133 256 MB. I looked up purchasing new RAM and find that there are two kinds, the 16x32 says it has to be for a computer that will take 512 MB RAM.

Could anyone tell me precisely what RAM this Dell MB will accept?

Thanks.

You can either enter the Service Tag on the Dell Support site, or go to www.crucial.com to determine the type and maximum RAM and configuration of same for the MOBO.
