Gateway Nv5389u notebook

Specs: WIN7, AMDAthlon2.1
I bought this computer #1:

http://shop.amd.com/CA/_layouts/sho... for $429

But this computer #2: http://www.gateway.com/systems/prod... is $529.

The #1 computer is M320 @ 2.1 gigz with 4gigz DDR3 memory
The #2 computer is M300 @2.0 gigz with 4gigz DDR2 memory

Why is computer #1 $429 and computer #2 $529

And why Does only AMD/futureshop sell computer #1, but computer #2 is everywhere?

*everything else is similar even software

They appear to be identical spec systems which begs the question why would the one available through Gateway cost $100 more than the exact same spec unit available through a third party reseller?

They are not identical. Different CPUs, different RAM. The cheaper one is actually the better one.

DDR3 memory

That could make the difference.

With DDR3 memory it will have a different motherboard with possible a more advanced chip set.

I haven't seen computer #1 being sold anywhere else other than futureshop.

You have to remember the computer is M320 @ 2.1 gigz and DDR3

The gateway computer is m300 @ 2.0 gigz and DDR2.

Now why exactly would gateway have the old computer on their website and not the slightly faster computer? And why is futureshop the only retailer that is selling computer #1? I've checked the serial code and its not coming up for sale anywhere else on the internet.

It has exact specs + better processor/memory. Why is it selling for $429 and gateway selling the other for $529?

If it is refurbished @ futureshop, then where are the NEW computers and what price would they be? Shouldn't gateway have them (NV5398u) For sale new? For more than $529 (old) ??

It is sometime impossible to trace model numbers. HP/Compaq and I presume Acer (Gateway/EMachine) make almost identical machines for major vendors - Best Buy, Offfice Depot, OfficeMax, Walmart, Costco. Sometimes it is just a suffix in the model number. Sometime it is a difference in the option/feature package. They also do it with printers too.
