Specs: Windows XP
Hi, my computer is has the following critical error "damaged hard dive clusters detected. Privacy data is at risk." What does this mean and how can I fix it. Thank you

It indicates the hard drive is failing if it is a legitimate warning and not some malware program. Laptop/desktop? If you can see what make the hard drive is....go to the manufacturers website and download the disk utility to test the hard drive. If it is failing you should start saving all important data to another source....cd's flash drives, whatever you can or one day you'll be sorry.

HopoerRox is corrrect. A system called SMART is used sometimes to record this type of error. The OS can post it also in some cases.

If you can't get the hard drive companies software tests to run (and they are usually the best place to start) then get an "ultimate boot cd". Ubcd has generic tests.

Any important data should be backed up now.

It could be also memory,or controller but test with smart tests.

use a program called HDD Regenerate, worked wonders for my hard disk
