Hi! My cdr/cdrw stopped reading, writing or even detecting a cd inside it. Everything was checked...drivers, IDE cables, lens cleaned, BIOS...nothing seems to solve the problem. When i try to access the drive from Command Prompt it gives this error mesage: "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error". What is an "I/O device error"? How can i fix that? Hope you can help me!

I/O error is a input/output error.
Replace the drive.

It sounds like your drive finally dead. Hope that's not the case, but it happens.
On the other hand, it could merely just be a conflict within your system. But I don't think so, especially if you haven't changed anything within your system as of late.
