I need to upgrade my graphics card but I only have a budget upto around the £60 region. The main reason for upgrading is for playing games I suppose and the rest of my spec is: AMD Duron 1.1GHz Processor 256MB SDRAM 40Gb HDD
Ideally an AGP type as I read that graphic card manufacturers are phasing out PCI type cards in favour of AGP...am I correct in thinking this?

I would suggest a 64MB G-Force2 MX400...They are made in AGP and PCI form. Whatever suits your Mainboard best.....AGP cards are usually cheaper... This card price range is from 45 to 80 dollars on the net..

Personally, i would suggest saving up your cash and buying a Gainward 650 Ultra XP GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128Mb. They run about 180-200 but well worth it. It even comes with software to overclock the card safely and produce better framerates.

i would like to second josh's recommendation. the 64MB G-Force2 MX400 can give about 20 - 25 FPS in 1600x1200 res of QIII. at 1024x768, you'll get approx 60 + - 5 FPS. that's good enough to spill your opponents guts. and it's way cheap too.
whatever someone says, don't go in for TNT2. they cannot hold their own with todays games.
Summary: Mark, do you have the card longer or is it new ??? If it's new was the old an ATI ??? If it was an ATI there may be old ATI drivers still around. That would be bad because I had that with my brothers ...

Summary: I assume that the monitor is connected to the video card and that you can boot up that way ? I'm not sure what you mean by "It reverted to using the 'old' graphics card" Do you mean the onbaord video,...
