Reply: (edit)You need a wireless broadband router, and each PC needs a wireless network interface card (unless one is close enough to the broadband router, in which case you can use ethernet cable -- the PC's may have built-in wired network interface cards). It goes like this. The internet (I'm guessing your mom got cable internet service) goes into the broadband router with a cable, and the router distributes the internet to other computers either with wires or wirelessly. ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe AMD Athlon X2 4800+ 2GB RAM, X1900GT 2x37GB WD Raptors, RAID 1 1x250GB WD Storage

Reply: (edit)How many computers are you trying to hook up? If you only have one computer, the internet cable connects to the modem & the modem is connected directly to the PC, either thru an ethernet cable or a USB cable. If you wanna connect more than one PC, you'll need to get a router. The router connects between the modem & the main PC & can distribute the internet signal to multiple PCs either thru ethernet cables or a wireless signal. In your case, it appears you want a wireless router. Each computer that you wanna connect to the internet will need a wireless adapter to be able to pickup the signal being transmitted by the wireless router. The adapter can either be a PCI card type or a USB type. Your network will have to be given a name & the wireless signal *should* be encrypted so that no one nearby can tap into your internet connection. Each computer on your network will have to be configured with your network & encryption info to be able to "tap in" to your internet signal
