"eaten up my notebook computer's memory"

Are you saying they are loading up into RAM and are slowing down performance?
I suspect they are part of the enhanced visual appearance of WIN7 and you may be ablt to tone down the visual effects. You have not given any detailed specs of the system , nor stipulated exactly which version of WIN7 you are running.

If these files are stored on the hard disc then they are not doing anything and do not slow down your computer providing there is plenty of free space on the hard disk.

It is only when you load them into memory that they can slow things down and in this case they are only loaded as needed. The files contain information for various devices you may or may not have installed on your computer. Do not delete them as it could cause problems with devices, either now or in the future.

Don't get confused between hard disk space and memory space which is RAM. They are two completely different things although they are both measured in GBs
