hi i just bought a brand new Philips portable dvd player and whenever I play a dvd (doesnt matter which one) theres a small skip that occasionaly keeps happening during the movie. it lasts for about half a second.

Is this normal because on that back of the dvd movie case it says in small letters "layer transition may trigger a slight pause."

Could that be it?^^

There maybe dust on the DVD lens itself. The "layer transition may trigger a slight pause." means that it is a dual layer DVD, meaning that there are two layers. When it pauses half way through the movie it is switching to the next layer, but this should only happen once. There are products that will clean DVD lens just take a look for them.

Hope that helps,

Jesse

It's pretty normal to have ONE slight skip during the movie on a double layer disk. This is when the machine changes to layer 2 on the disk. If you're getting MORE than one skip then there are problems elsewhere

sorry I also forgot to mention I tried a DVD lens cleaner but it still has those small skips that last a quarter of a second.
