Weird computer screen

Specs: Windows XP

Just a few days ago my computer screen started acting weird. When I shut the computer off, and left the screen on for a little while (intending to turn the CPU on again), the screen turned white and started showing the following numbers:

"31 KHz 60 Hz
48 KHz 72 Hz
64 KHz 60 Hz"

I'm guessing these have something to do with VGA or RGB adjustments, but when I try to open the screen's adjustments control panel, I can't navigate.

It doesn't show these numbers when the computer is on, only when it is off and the screen is on. This wouldn't be such a big problem but now I have a small screen with huge black frames on both sides and on the top, and I can't use the monitor control panel.

My computer screen is from Hong Kong, and I can't figure out the manufacturer. In the front there is a logo that seems to say "F" and on the behind it says:

Model no CM1772FS
100-240V~, 2A, 50/60Hz
Product Name: E700

Have Googled with unsuccessful results. Anyone have any advice?

You say you can't adjust the "screen's adjustments control panel". Is that the on-screen settings or the settings in XP?

If it's the on-screen settings then the problem is likely with the monitor. If not, it could be the monitor, video card or video card drivers. Can you try the monitor on another computer and see if you have the same problems?
