Hi ^_^ I have a problem with the way gradients of color are being displayed. Rather than smoothly blend from one shade to another it is clearly visible where one shade ends and the next begins. I am running WinME, DirectX 8.1, with a Geforce2. I have updated my card's drivers and tried changing all its settings. I've tried increasing my desktop colors and resolution but nothing makes a difference. Colors just don't blend into each other:( I'd be very grateful for any help...

Have you looked into Degaussing the Monitor?
Definition:
To degauss (pronounced dee-GOWS) is to demagnetize. Degaussing a computer display removes any undesirable magnetic field that may have built up within the display, causing distortion of the image or color. Display monitors with cathode ray tube (CRT ) technology are subject to the buildup of magnetic fields. Many display manufacturers include an internal coil that will degauss the display when it is turned on. Some displays also include an external control that a user can operate to degauss the display at any time.

Yeah my monitor has an internal degauss thingy. And I've tried a second monitor too :(
I think it's something to do with my desktop color depth. I've always had set to High Color 16-bit before with no problems. When I set it to 32-bit it improves the problem but it doesn't look as good as 32-bit should. It's as if my 16-bit setting just isn't using as many colors as it used to, though you can only notice it as 'rings' of shading when you're supposed to have a smooth gradient of color.

If you see the bands then I think you have
set accidentally set you color depth to 16 colors not 16 bit HiColor.Just an observation.

I'm definitely in 16-bit High Color. I'm sure 'cos if I set my color depth to 256 things get alot worse. It's just that before, 16-bit was enough to eliminate the bands. But now only 32-bit will do it. I know it sounds strange and I can't imagine what's caused it :(
