My Webstar DPC 2100 modem connects to the internet in both USB and Ethernet, I have 2 computers one using the ethernet, other using the USB connection in the modem, one day it stopped working on Ethernet means no connection, but working on USB have internet. then vice versa whichever computer boots first it connects then the other it won't connect.
What had happened to this? I'm very worried now I called the ISP and they said they didn't change anything.
What I want to happen is make those 2 connections available again the USB and ethernet in the cable modem, which is one connection now and the other on won't connect. Thanks
PS I've tried everything to fix this but have no joy. pls help thanks

A modem is not a router and is incapable of splitting the IP address allocated by the ISP. If you previously had both the ethernet and usb connections working simultaneously, then your ISP was giving you two IP addresses. They are no longer doing this. In order to share your internet connection you need to get a router.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.
