I'm having problems with my mum's webcam - a Logitech Quickcam Communicate STX. I can get pictures, but no sound. I have the same webcam, and she can see and hear me. All the settings on her webcam appear to be working & it has been returned to the vendor (PC World) who has confirmed it's working, however we still can't get sound, which to me suggests the settings on her pc, or her broadband provider (Tesco), or Windows Live Messenger aren't correct. Could this be a firewall issue? Any other suggestions to try? Thanks

If the pc plays normal sounds, then the pc must be ok. Go through the live messenger tools, audio & video setup. Have you selected the correct items from the drop down box? is the headphone plugged into the correct sockets?
Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

In the PC's sound management software you need to select the logitec device as the microphone source. Go to Control Panel > Sound & Audio Devices. Select "Audio" tab and look in the dropdown menu under the Sound Recording box.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.
