Specs: Macintosh
I have equipment that uses a 25 pin parallel port and
LIPS - the software supposedly only runs on WIN 98
to enable connection to ports.

I want to run it on a newer laptop using a USB/parallel
port cable but WIN 98 wont acknowledge the USB
driver and WIN XP doesn't allow communication
between the parallel ports? How can I reconfigure

It's beyond my scope but there is something on programming a parallel port using VC++.

How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

MS-DOS/Win9x Software allows Direct Port Access.

NT O/S ie W2K/XP/Vista does not allow direct port access, therefore you need to write an application.

If the Laptop has a PCMCIA CardBus Slot buy a Parallel Port card as you will have more success than USB/Parallel, one less layer of difficulty to deal with:

The computer loom hardware uses a parallel port - and has to
use WIN 98, is there a way to configure WIN XP to accept a
parallel port (centronics?) it is not a printer but uses the port to
run. WIN XP will not allow access to this parallel port. How
can I re-set/bypass - thru BIOS????? Any ideas - this will
open up a lot of options for me if I can get the port to run thru
