My question is:

Why is it that on my Maxtor 120 GB sata ata 150 it has no jumper pin...same with another Maxtor sata HD i had before as my OS Drive / Master.... Now I installed the WD Rapture 10,000 Rpm HD as my OS/ Master drive and the instructions that came with it told me DO NOT REMOVE JUMPER.... One problem, when I formatted and installed my OS on this Raptor the Raptor (i found out later was in as my (F:) Drive ??? The 120 Maxtor sata i was using as a media Drive is now my (C:) Drive the heck does this mean ? everything seems to work fine... I am installing everything I want to run at 10,000 Rpms on the (F:) Drive (my Raptor) but I was wondering, am I getting the performance of the 10,000 Drive eventhouigh it's set as my (F:) Drive ??? When I open Mt Computer to look at the Drives it reads: (C:) Drive then (F:) Drive. can someone let me know if this is ok ? Thank You.

The drive letter assigned to the drive has no effect on it's speed.

But I wanted the WD Raptor 10,000 as my Main OS drive.... You know how if you run a Master and Slave hard drive combo.... You would put the faster Drive in the master position.... If you were not using SATA HD's ? Well I was just wondering if My Raptor 10,000 will run at 7200Rpm if it is not my (C:) Drive ? Also I notice becuse it is my (F) Drive, on boot up, it goes thru an extra search to find the OS drive... It takes like an extra 5 seconds to boot because of this. Will I suffer any other loss in benefit from this Raptor 10,000 if I leave it as the (F:) Drive ? Or would I be better off re-installing it as my (:C) Drive for maximum benefit ?

Thank You.

~Thomas

The jumper makes no affect on a serial drive since it only support one per channel(for the Rappter case, you just need to remove all jumper from the drive). To make it bootable you need to select from the Bios.
