can a replacement be purchased?

most power supplies have the specs and polarity on the wall wart.

Would purchasing a new power supply be cheaper than having one custom made?

Custom power supplies are very pricey.

Western Digital sells some power supplies for external drives for a reasonable price. Check near the bottom of this link.

I didn't see your exact model listed. Maybe you could e-mail customer support.
