Specs: Windows 10, CORe i5
I recently bought a new WD Elements EHD. I copied all the data into it because my laptop has gotten very very slower due to being so full; I have a lot of movies, animation movies, and anime. Anywaaays, NOW, and SUDDENLY, I must say, the folder of photos was gone two days ago, and today the folders of the movies are gone. There is the main folder in which I all the "movies, animation movies, and anime" in, but there is none of the folders for each type. I tried the Command Prompt recovery, or whatever is the right word, nothing. I tired Show Hidden Folders— surprise, surprise— nothing.I tried creating the "unhide.bat", some data came back. Surprise. The data is not in Recycle Bin in any of the laptops the hard has been used with. I do not know why the data is lost and why only these two folders are attacked by this mysterious corruption.

Did you verify the data was actually written to the external?

Did you use CUT and paste, or COPY and paste? Copy and paste is much safer to use.

Can you estimate the total size of the files you transferred? If so, compare that to the capacity used on the external in order to determine if they may still be present.

What format type is in use on the external drive?
