Sumone wants to sell me these:

- ECS/Elitegroup GEFORCE6100PM-M2 Motherboard (V2.0)

-AMD® Athlon™ 64 X2 3800+ Dual Core Processor (Windsor core)

for 130. Is that good?

Same class of MBoard as you have. Not a very good brand either. Have you tried Overclocking your current rig?

What is your current MBoard?

Nvidia doesn't make MBoards. That is the Chipset on the MBoard. You have an ECS MBoard that is basically the same as the board you asked about. Why change it.

NO, you'd be getting ripped off!

The board you have isn't great, but it isn't all that bad either. The other board you're considering is almost the exact same board...both are made by ECS/Elitegroup.

And why would you consider buying a board thru eBay?? Besides, the board you linked to is a S939, not an AM2.

If you like the X2 3800+ Windsor, the retail version (w/HSF) sells for $56 at Newegg, or for $54, you can get the retail 4000+ Brisbane. If you don't need a HSF, the 4200+ Brisbane OEM version is only $55. All of them ship for free.

You could either slap one of these CPUs into your current board or buy a more modern board with four DDR2 DIMM slots. Since you were considering $130, deduct $55 for one of the above CPUs, that leaves you with $75. There are plenty of good AM2 boards for under $75. Plus you should be able to sell your current board/CPU combo for about $75 or so.

EDIT: one other option would be to hold off upgrading the board for now & get an even better CPU for your current setup. You can always upgrade the board later. If you're considering a high end video card, you don't want it to be bottlenecked by the CPU. You can get the 5400+ for $78 or the 5000+ Black Edition (with unlocked multiplier) for $90.

Ive decided to go with your last option...which is upgrading the CPU for now, and when i get more money ill go with a new mobo and video card.
