ok so i have the idea of creating a media pc and was scoping out how i would go about using it and i decided Wake up on LAN would help then i could remote in and set up downloads whilst the comp was in the living room without distubing who was there. so i have hbeen trying to test out wol on my computer that i have using my laptop as a sender of the magic packet. the computer in question was a asus m2n-sl delux. i have set the bios to wake up on lan and went into windows network adaptor configure and set it there and allowed it wake up on and but still nothing. im can ping it but cant get the computer the wake up. i have sent the packet to port 7 and 9 but still nothing. have i missed somthing or has any one else had this problem?

You may need to verify there is a 2- or 3-wire cable between the network card and the WOL connection on the motherboard. I'm not sure if that is always needed for WOL support but since you can't get it to work that may be the reason.
the network card is built into the motherboard so no cable.

its ok i figuired it out. like a mupet. i was sending the packet to the wrong ip adress. i was looking on the router and automatically thinking the unamed ip adress was the pc. however i was using a laptop with the eithernet conected as well as the wireless. so the unknown ip was for the wireless card. got it working now after feeling a bit of a tit
