Emachines W5243 power supply. The motherboard power connector has 24 pins, but the power supply plug only has 20. Is this supposed to work? Im helping a guy out with this one. He has had it to Best-buy and it still doesn't work. My Emachines has a 24 pin power plug and this one has only 20 coming off the psu. I think it has windows vista. I tried the cpu in my comp and it worked. cpuz said it is am2. i don't know whats wrong with it. i even replaced the motherboard and still nothing.
Is that the original power supply? If the pins are mismatched, how can you connect it? Do you have a volt meter to check it? How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.
You already know what the problem is, why are you swapping the board, CPU, etc. The extra 4-pins on the 24-pin ATX connector are to supply power to the PCIe slots. Get the proper type power supply & do NOT buy it from BestBuy.
Yes, I know, but if you have anything connected to the PCIe slots (video card for example), you will need a PSU with a 24-pin plug. BTW, Bestec power supplies suck.
The customer bought it, not me. I was just trying to help him out by testing the parts 1 by 1 to narrow it down. I can't believe Bestbuy would put a piece of crap like that in his computer and expect it to work. The brand is L & C. Never even heard of them. No sata connectors at all on this one. All molex. They even replaced his hard drive and had to use an adaptor; sata to molex. I will tell him to order that power supply you suggested. And thanks. Merry Christmas to all.
Not the original. They used to use bestec. my et1331g-03w has fsp 300 watt bronze. and ive got a gtx 550ti in it.
I have a Seasonic X660 in the closet. Would i be able to hook it up externally to see if it works, or does it need to be installed in the frame to be grounded?
