Volume going Up and Down

Specs: Windows XP, Pentium 2.66 MHZ/512MB

I've had this problem for awhile now and can't find any solutions to it on the internet anywhere. Basically what happens is I'll turn music on and i'll set the volume to what I want and the volume immediately descends all the way down till I can't hear it anymore. Then when i try to turn it up it blasts all the way up to where it should be and then it turns all the way down again. This is VERY annoying and almost makes listening to anything at a decent volume impossible because it always goes down to nothing. I have the Creative Audigy 2 Soundblaster 6.1 Speakers and the Audio Card that goes with that. I've uninstalled, re-installed, updated drivers. I actually found a thread that sounded like the problem I was having and they said to delete the Creative volume control that comes with the card and speakers, well i did that and still no joy. I'd appreciate any feedback as to if you are having the same problems or some extremely sought after solutions. Thnks

It 'could' be one of the programs that you run doing it. If it is, you might be able to nail the culprit down by keeping a mental note of which program was run just before the change took place.

Hi..I had got the same problem just a day ago and sloved it.The problem lies in 2 areas.I will emphasize all those

a)Installing the default creative CD drivers and software and then going to creative website and downloading their updates causes a change in the volume going up and down.

b)This is the area where I got sloved.Open control panel and then click on "SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES".Over here click on the speaker settings "ADVANCED BUTTON".A window will come up and then it asks your speaker settings.I recommend using the option that what number of speakers channel you have...meaning either 6.1,7.1, 5.1.I choose 5.1 although I have a 6.1 and I have a creative Audigy zs video editor as my sound card..

Hope it helps..Post your reply...
