Hi, I got a used computer from a friend.
It has an asus p5a mobo, with 64MB SDRAM.
He told me once that there were some problems with the RAM.
I have been reading about the board, and everyone is seems to be very happy about this board (Yes, I know it's an old board, but that's not the point), except for 1 review that I read: http://www.lostcircuits.com/motherboard/asus_p5a/4.shtmlIt mentions that The I/O-voltage is too high, which can cause damage to the DIMM.
As my friend mentionned problems with the RAM, I would guess that this might be the cause. Is it really a problem, or only if you start overclocking etc. I don't want to damage my RAM...
I just plan to use the board as a replacement for my SiS530-chipset-mobo, which is a pretty slow mobo.Johan

Hmm, not sure about that... as the RAM that has been used the past 3 years is already damaged, and the computer has never been overclocked.
But that might also be caused by bad airflow in the case (which is really bad! there's almost no space above the cpu due to the power supply) and thus problems with overheating.I read a bit more and found that this problem was in rev. 1.03 of the mobo, and was corrected in rev. 1.06. I have rev. 1.04, so I guess it is not yet corrected on that board.
I think I'll first try some motherboard monitor programs and memorycheckers to test the board.
Johan
