Specs: Windows Vista
The harddrive went out on this laptop . I replaced it , I have all the drivers and utilities cds . As well as the media to format the harddrive. I am booting from the cd/dvd drive. I keep getting the message that this boot cycle is f: .. Then below that reads A RAMDISK drive is available for this boot cycle as C: . It contains several harddrive setup tools . Please use these tools only under the direction of dell staff support.
I guess it is asking me to put something there which I dont know what to put . Can anyone help me ??

My guess is that when you boot to the live disk it creates a faux set of drives. The problem may be that what you think of as C is not what the disk thinks of as C:.
This recovery disk is using a live vista PE to help you with do diags. It may also allow you to recover your system.

To be sure, you need to follow the owners manual.
