I Had Win XP in My PC. I just install win Vista Ultimate by upgrading not by custome option which install vista in new and delete previous stuff in os. Now i have win vista 32 bit ultimate and want to install win vista 64 Bit Ultimate But when i run setup it give's error like this
Error Message:The version of this file is not compatible with version of windows you're running. Check
your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit)
version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.Plz help me how can i install 64Bit Vista Ultimate

I don't think you can upgrade an upgrade. You either have to wipe the HDD & start from scratch or create a dual boot setup.
Another possibility that *might* work would be to roll back to WinXP, then upgrade to Vista 64 from there....not sure about that though.
Just curious, why do you have so much RAM?

Is your hardware (board, processor, etc.) 64-bit?

"Installing a 64-bit version of Windows Vista on computer that is running a 32-bit version of Windows Vista"as it states the installer wont run on a 32 bit OS, fine,, but everyone uses the dvd boot loader so im not sure what is meant there.
i'd try the upgradeadvisor see if that throws any light on it.
